MFT Wythenshawe Thoracic Oncology unit has an opportunity for three enthusiastic, self-motivated Post CCT or senior trainees, to join our expanding team.

The role will give the candidates the opportunity to hone their skills in interventional bronchoscopy, pleural disease and lung cancer screening.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Thoracic Oncology department in a team of 5 fellows.
  • Gain experience in the rapid cancer clinic and procedures including linear EBUS, AFI bronchoscopy, radial probe EBUS, Navigational bronchoscopy and soon to be robotic bronchoscopy.
  • Develop experience in pleural procedures with local anaesthetic thoracoscopy, indwelling pleural catheters, chest drains and ambulatory pleural vents.
  • Work in rapid HSC clinics, pleural clinics, and support specialist ward referrals.
  • Have opportunities to undertake research projects and present at conferences, building a portfolio prior to taking up a definitive Consultant post with an interest in Pleural Disease/Intervention/Lung Cancer.
  • For registrars in training, increase expertise of procedural skills while consolidating respiratory training.
  • Focus on all elements involved in lung cancer pathways, from early detection with screening to management of complex lung cancer and pleural disease.
  • Further develop interventional skills including endobronchial techniques with pleural and minimally invasive thoracic procedures.
  • Contribute to diagnostic pathways from screening triage, outcomes of screening investigations, rapid access lung cancer clinics, Cancer and Pleural ward consult service, MDT (including specialist pleural MDT), teaching, research & audit and service development.
