Specialty Doctor - Older Adult Psychiatry - South Manchester
This is a new post designed to support the South Manchester CMHT. The duties of the post are for the care of patients in the South Manchester locality.
The post holder will work with the CMHT in accepting referrals from the defined General Practitioners within the locality using the agreed referral criteria, provided that the patient is resident in Manchester. Referrals will also be accepted from General Practitioners outside Manchester CCG area where their patient is a Manchester resident.
The post holder will provide community assessments and if necessary, can book clinic appointments in the Laureate House outpatient clinic. These will include the assessment of new and review patients allocated by the consultants, and support for CPA with CMHT members
Main duties of the jobClinical role o The post holder would join the clinical team that currently supports South Manchester. The base would be at Laureate House
o The post holder will liaise with the other medical colleagues within the South Manchester area and support the community team with clinical activity that covers meetings, CPAs, professionals' meetings, and other Mental Health Act related activity.
o The post holder will review patients presenting to MATs clinics and complete home visits for MATS and CMHT patients.
o The post holder will be expected to Diagnose and formulate management plans with supervision as required.
o Work in partnership with local GPs
o Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
o Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.

Person Specification Qualifications- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Ability to work in and lead team
