The Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is delighted to invite applications for a Consultant Ophthalmologist post with a special interest in Medical Retina and Acute Ophthalmology to join our established and supportive team of 12 Medical Retina Consultants.
The successful applicant will contribute specialist expertise in Medical Retina, delivering services primarily based at the Oxford Road Campus, with activity also across three satellite centres within the city, offering a diverse and rewarding clinical role.
For candidates with appropriate experience and interest, there is an opportunity to undertake high-volume cataract surgery at our dedicated cataract centre at Withington Community Hospital.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking department with strong links to education, research, and service innovation, within one of the UK's leading eye hospitals.
Applicants should hold Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (or equivalent). A higher degree is desirable but not essential. The post is offered as a 10 PA consultant contract and includes a general ophthalmology on-call commitment. Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment.
Applicants must be included on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following routes:
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)(Proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview)
- Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)(CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation at the time of application)
