Lecturer in Synthetic-Medicinal Chemistry or AI-enabled Medicinal Chemistry

About the role: The Lectureship aims to advance research in medicinal chemistry (including closely related research areas such as chemical biology) or development of AI approaches to enable medicinal chemistry. The Division has a long-standing tradition of expert contribution to the development and use of therapeutic strategies, including the discovery of new drug molecules through fundamental understanding of the chemical, structural and molecular biology of disease.

The expertise in medicinal chemistry is now required to develop suitable targeting approaches and candidate entities.

The successful applicant is expected to carry out internationally competitive research and contribute to raising the profile of the Division and the School through peer‑reviewed internationally leading research publications. In addition to leading an independent research programme, the post‑holder will contribute to undergraduate and post‑graduate teaching and assessment in medicinal, pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry, drug discovery and related topics, with an expectation to lead in relevant areas and contribute to the new curriculum development and delivery.

We welcome applicants from both academic and industrial background. As women are currently under‑represented in our physical sciences team, we would particularly welcome applications from women. All appointments will be made on merit.

What you will get in return:

  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. As stated, all appointments are made on merit.
