Lecturer in Synthetic-Medicinal Chemistry or AI-enabled Medicinal Chemistry
About the role: The Lectureship aims to advance research in medicinal chemistry (including closely related research areas such as chemical biology) or development of AI approaches to enable medicinal chemistry. The Division has a long-standing tradition of expert contribution to the development and use of therapeutic strategies, including the discovery of new drug molecules through fundamental understanding of the chemical, structural and molecular biology of disease.
The expertise in medicinal chemistry is now required to develop suitable targeting approaches and candidate entities.
The successful applicant is expected to carry out internationally competitive research and contribute to raising the profile of the Division and the School through peer‑reviewed internationally leading research publications. In addition to leading an independent research programme, the post‑holder will contribute to undergraduate and post‑graduate teaching and assessment in medicinal, pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry, drug discovery and related topics, with an expectation to lead in relevant areas and contribute to the new curriculum development and delivery.

As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration’s (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application UKVI.
