  • Hold Assessors or IQA qualifications (desirable) or willingness to achieve

Job Description

Manchester Adult Education (MAES) invites a passionate industry expert to join our Vocational and Employer Responsive team as a Lecturer. The role involves planning, delivery, assessment and moderation of part‑time adult courses from Level 1 to 4.

  • Professional development pathways such as Supporting Individuals with Learning Difficulties, Supporting Behaviour, Mental Health Awareness and Substance Misuse
  • Apprenticeships from January 2025

The role will involve the planning, delivery, assessment and moderation of Teaching Assistant/Early Years courses, therefore requires subject competency.

Candidate Profile
  • Professional and academic competence / qualifications to teach on the qualifications.
  • Experience of adopting a range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Use of e‑learning platforms such as Equal, Google Classroom and others or the willingness to learn.
  • Time management skills to show how you manage priorities of planning lessons and assessing learner work.
Key Accountabilities
  • Deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard.
  • Assess accurately learners’ work, both formative and summative, against awarding body criteria to ensure learners achieve their qualifications, which may include work placement visits.
  • Teach online lessons (where appropriate) as well as teaching in our centres, including outreach across the city as needed, which may involve occasional evening class.
  • Have excellent digital skills to support learners to actively engage in their programme of learning and develop key workplace digital standards.
  • Take some course leadership responsibilities and participate in team meetings and working groups.
  • Comply with services quality assurance procedures, policies and procedures, and keep up‑to‑date in the subject area.
