Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Salford (M50)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm (30‑minute lunch)
Pay: 13.69 - 15.87 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)
Long‑term role with the potential to go temp‑to‑perm
A welcoming and well‑respected secondary school in the M50 Salford area is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a long‑term opportunity, and for the right Teaching Assistant, the role may lead to a permanent contract.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and excellent SEND provision. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work across a range of year groups and subject areas, supporting students both in mainstream classrooms and within the SEND department. The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive, and passionate about helping young people succeed.
Teaching Assistant- Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Working closely with the SENDCo and teaching staff to implement support strategies
- Helping students with SEMH, learning difficulties, ASD, ADHD and other additional needs
- Supporting behaviour for learning and helping students stay engaged
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities
- Providing classroom support, including resources, organisation, and supervision
- Encouraging positive learning attitudes and emotional regulation
- Supporting pupils during transitions between lessons
- Always maintaining a professional and consistent approach
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting (secondary preferred but not essential)
- Confidence supporting students with SEND and varied additional needs
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability, professionalism, and enthusiasm
- A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Long‑term position at a supportive secondary school
