AboutThe Role
To lead, manage and deliver an engaging and industry relevant Digital Media curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, student achievement and industry engagement.
The desirable candidate will have media skills in photography, videography, video production & editing, motion graphics (GFX), composition, graphics & image creation, and media contextual studies. Even if you do not meet the brief above we would like to hear from you if you have a wealth of media, film or photography experience you would like to share with the next generation.
The role may include some Course Leader duties involving effective course leadership, supporting and coordinating the course team while ensuring compliance with college policies and awarding body requirements. Training, support and guidance will be provided.
The postholder will play a central role in shaping the student experience, developing industry links, supporting recruitment and marketing, and ensuring learners are prepared for progression into higher education and careers within the creative media industries.
About YouYou’ll have experience working within the creative media or animation industry, or you’re a recent graduate with a relevant degree and a passion for sharing your skills. You’ll have a strong understanding of both traditional and digital animation techniques, from hand‑drawn to digital 2D workflows. A foundation in traditional art practices, such as drawing, composition, and visual storytelling, will be essential.
You’ll also bring a good understanding of media theory, context, and production processes, and be comfortable helping students make the connection between creative practice and critical thinking. Familiarity with industry–standard software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, After Effects, Animate, Premiere Pro) or similar animation tools will be an advantage.
Ideally, you’ll have experience working with young people, whether through mentoring, workshops, guest lecturing, or educational projects, and you’ll enjoy inspiring learners to explore their own creative potential.
If you’ve previously worked in further education and already hold a teaching qualification, that would be the icing on the cake. For those new to teaching, we’ll support you in completing your teacher training, fully funded, so you can gain a nationally recognised qualification transferable across the FE sector.
We understand that not every candidate will tick every box. “Industry is Insight” so if you're freelance or want to work part‑time in education while maintaining your craft in the industry - you may be a great fit for us! If your background looks a little different from what’s listed here, but you believe you can bring creativity, enthusiasm, and value to the role, and want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people, we’d love to hear from you.
