Rochester Independent College is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Psychology to join our academic team in September 2026. This is a flexible opportunity, and we are happy to receive applications from candidates seeking either a full-time or a part-time position.
Founded in 1984, Rochester Independent College in Kent is a day and boarding school offering a distinctive alternative to both traditional independent education and the highly selective grammar schools. The college aims to give students an enjoyable and successful experience in an international, creative and inclusive environment with small classes and high-quality teaching and pastoral care. Classes are small, with an average of 8 students in each group and a maximum of 12.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be a subject specialist with a proven track record of delivering results. Experience of teaching Psychology at A Level is essential for this role, while the ability to teach A Level Sociology is desirable. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the post holder will be expected to contribute actively to the College's programme of extra‑curricular activities.
Qualifications- Experience teaching Psychology at A Level (essential).
- Experience teaching A Level Sociology (desirable).
- A proven record of delivering results.
- Willingness to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Knowledge of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 (post exempt).
