Youth Mentor

Position Overview

Prospero Teaching is working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Salford. This classroom-based role provides mentoring and pastoral support to students age 11-16 with EHCP plans and additional needs.

• Build connections with young people, serving as a mentor and role model.
• Provide mentoring and pastoral support using techniques similar to sports, drama and counselling.
• Forge strong relationships with pupils to help them engage with the school.

• Strong TA or tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools.
• Own car and valid driving licence.
• Experience in mentoring children and young adults; open to experienced and those with a strong background.

• Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH / PRU.
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent and above preferred.
• GCSE Maths and English and computer literate.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate or willing to apply.
• Two professional child‑related references covering at least the last two years.
