Job Type: Part-Time Flexible Hours Starting After Easter Break

We are seeking an experienced SEMH Specialist Tutor to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Salford. This role is perfect for a tutor who can provide tailored academic support in Maths and English while helping students manage their emotional and behavioural challenges.

You will work with students who may also have additional needs such as Autism or ADHD, supporting them in their academic progress as well as their emotional development. Flexible hours make this a great opportunity to make a real difference while fitting around your availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs, helping them with emotional regulation, confidence‑building, and behaviour management.
  • Provide tailored Maths and English lessons to meet individual learning needs and academic levels.
  • Establish a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to engage with their studies.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies and a calm approach to address challenges and encourage progress.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers, and relevant professionals.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Experience delivering Maths and/or English at functional or GCSE level.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students facing emotional challenges.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS) or relevant experience in education or youth work.
  • Training in behaviour support, trauma‑informed practice, or safeguarding.
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, or other additional learning needs.
Other Information

The successful candidate will be required to complete all safeguarding and compliance checks. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is a key responsibility of this role.
