  • Top Pay:
    Up to £70k including bonuses
  • The Setting:
    Established, well-staffed 2-bed EBD homes.
  • The Support: RI & Senior support and real growth behind the role.

We are recruiting for an experienced Children’s Residential Registered Manager to lead an established 2-bed EBD home supporting young people aged 8–18. The organisation has grown substantially in East Lancashire and Greater Manchester, therefore this is a position of growth, not replacement.

You will be joining a well-staffed service with established Responsible Individuals already in place, so the focus is on strong leadership, consistent care and helping the home continue to develop in the right way.

Why this role stands out

  • Single-home package up to £65,000 including bonus.
  • Dual registration package up to £70,000 including bonus.
  • Established 2-bed EBD homes supporting children and young people aged 8–18.
  • Multiple North West locations: Across East Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
  • A growing provider with 10+ homes in the region
, expanding due to growth rather than high turnover.
  • Strong RI support already in place
, so you are not expected to carry the role alone.
  • Full staffing coverage with support workers
, giving you a solid base to lead from.
  • ASAP onboarding available
, with flexibility for candidates on a 3-month notice period.

What you’ll be doing

As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the leadership, management and development of the children’s home. You will create a safe, nurturing and well‑led environment where children feel supported, staff understand expectations, and care practice remains therapeutic, reflective and child-centred.

You will lead the staff team, maintain strong safeguarding and compliance standards, oversee care planning, build positive professional relationships and ensure the home is always prepared for Ofsted and quality assurance activity.

This role would suit someone who already understands the weight and reward of being a Registered Manager, someone calm, confident, reflective and able to build trust with both young people and staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a children’s residential home with warmth, structure and clear expectations.
  • Embed child-centred, trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
  • Maintain compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home.
  • Supervise, develop and support the staff team through reflective practice.
  • Oversee rotas, staffing, audits, records, incidents and safeguarding processes.
  • Ensure care plans reflect each child’s needs, wishes, feelings and outcomes.
  • Lead Ofsted inspections and respond effectively to recommendations or action plans.
  • Work closely with placing authorities, families, professionals and internal colleagues.
  • Promote a safe, homely environment where children feel a genuine sense of belonging.

What we’re looking for

  • Established experience as a Registered Manager within children’s residential care.
  • Significant experience in residential children’s services.
  • Strong leadership experience within a regulated care setting.
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • A therapeutic, trauma-informed and child-centred approach.
  • Confidence leading teams, making decisions and maintaining high standards.
  • Strong communication, organisation and professional judgement.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections, audits or service development would be an advantage.
