Job Summary

Primary School Hulme, Manchester. £102–£115 per day, 8:30–3:30, Full‑time. A welcoming primary school seeks a committed SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team on a full‑time basis.

About the Role

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop socially and emotionally within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN and behavioural needs.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Encouraging engagement and participation in classroom activities.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Assisting the class teacher in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Promoting pupil confidence, independence and wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working with children with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Previous school, care, youth work or support work experience is desirable.

Requirements

Applicants must have an enhanced DBS check. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
