Join a team that is as passionate as you are about helping every child reach their potential! We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a dynamic Secondary School. Our partner school is committed to creating a supportive, engaging, and nurturing environment where children with SEMH challenges can thrive and flourish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in collaboration with teachers, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of children with SEMH.
  • Work one‑on‑one and in small groups to provide focused learning and emotional support.
  • Foster trust and positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and resilience.
  • Promote a calm and inclusive classroom environment, using effective strategies to manage behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement holistic education plans.
  • Monitor, assess, and celebrate the achievements of students, ensuring their progress is communicated effectively to staff and parents.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, extracurricular activities, and supervision during breaks and outings.
Qualifications and Skills
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to work with children with SEMH needs, understanding their challenges and how to support them effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Collaborative mindset, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
