We have an exciting opportunity at our City Centre campus to join our Student Experience and Engagement Department as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Manager on a permanent, part time (20 hours per week), term-time only basis (over 36 weeks)
Future U is UCEN Manchester's integrated student support team, bringing together wellbeing, disability, financial support and careers expertise to help students thrive throughout their studies.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated mental health professional to lead our wellbeing provision. Working directly with students, you will provide tailored support, oversee a small cohort of trainee counsellors and line manage our Wellbeing Officer. We want you to help shape a responsive, student-centred service.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy.
- Membership or accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in counselling, including managing complex caseloads.
- Proven experience in supervising or managing counsellors or similar roles.
- Experience in adapting services to meet the diverse needs of students from various cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting higher education students.
- Experience in delivering training or workshops to staff.
- Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and mental health legislation.
- Data Management Systems:
Experience with systems for tracking service usage, student cases, and outcomes. - Project Management: experience in planning and executing initiatives, such as service improvements or training programs.
- Mediation
Skills:
experience in resolving disputes within the team or between staff and students in a fair and constructive manner. - Presentation Tools:
Competence in using software like PowerPoint for training and workshops.
