King David High School is seeking to appoint an knowledgeable and inspiring Teacher of Jewish Studies who is also responsible for designing, leading, and implementing non‑classroom based Jewish education, fostering a positive Jewish identity, and nurturing a vibrant religious and cultural atmosphere within a school or community setting.

The successful candidate will primarily teach Key Stage 3 Jewish Studies
, with the opportunity to teach GCSE and A‑Level Religious Studies for the right candidate.

King David High School is an academically successful Jewish school where students perform "well above average", with the highest GCSE Attainment 8 and A‑Level progress of Manchester state providers (Ofsted Compare Schools 2025). We welcome applications from teachers of any faith or none.

Jewish Studies at King David High School seeks to create a generation of proud, aware, and knowledgeable young Jews. The Role
  • Teach Jewish Studies at Key Stage 3
  • Deliver engaging lessons rooted in Torah sources and thoughtful discussion
  • Encourage students to explore Jewish values, identity and ethical responsibility
  • Contribute to the wider Jewish life of the school
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive and experienced department

There will also be opportunities to teach GCSE and A‑Level Religious Studies for candidates with the relevant experience and interest.

The Department

The Jewish Studies department is a warm and collaborative team, supported by colleagues with expertise in Tanach, Gemara, Halacha, Jewish philosophy, ethics, examination teaching and informal education.

Alongside formal lessons, the department runs a rich programme of Jewish informal education, including:

  • Chessed and social action initiatives
  • Chagim celebrations
  • Educational trips to Israel and Poland
