Are you a teacher who’s passionate about guiding students to achieve their full potential both in and out of the classroom? At The Manchester College we’re looking for Achievement Tutors to support learners’ academic success through engaging group tutorials. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in helping students stay on track, meet their goals and thrive in their studies by delivering outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment via engaging activities, resources, and focused academic coaching while monitoring individual student progress in 1‑1 reviews using tools like Pro Monitor and Markbook.

You’ll collaborate closely with teaching teams, develop high‑quality learning resources, and champion student voice, employability and achievement at every stage.

We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join us as an Achievement Tutor on a permanent, part‑time (21 hrs per week) basis.

As an unqualified teacher you will receive support to work towards qualified teacher status for post‑16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE, including 3‑4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 – £32,931. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you will progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Certificate of education or PGCE.
  • Current and valid industry specialism.
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
  • Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
  • English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above.
