Looking for a Role Where Relationships Matter Most?A highly regarded specialist SEND school in Trafford is looking to recruit compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support children with a range of complex learning and communication needs.
This is a school that places a huge emphasis on developing independence, enabling communication, sensory development, and creating meaningful learning experiences for every child. Many pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require specialist support throughout the school day.
If you have experience working in care, support work, residential settings, mental health services, or specialist education, your skills could be exactly what this school is looking for.
About the Pupils You'll SupportThe school supports pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
- Sensory Processing Needs
- Social and Emotional Development Needs
- Pupils who are non-verbal or have limited communication
- Children requiring structured routines and sensory-based learning approaches
Many pupils communicate through visual supports, symbols, Makaton, sensory activities, and personalised communication systems. The school places a strong emphasis on communication and independence development.
About the RoleAs a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Help children engage with learning through sensory and practical activities
- Promote communication, social interaction, and independence
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families
- Help pupils access community-based learning and life skills opportunities where appropriate
