The Role:
A specialist SEMH provision in M5, Salford is seeking a passionate, resilient, and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis for the entire academic year.
This SEMH Teacher opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives on building positive relationships and believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the barriers they face. As an SEMH Teacher, you will teach pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, many of whom have experienced disrupted education, trauma, or additional SEND needs.
The successful SEMH Teacher will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where pupils can develop academically, emotionally, and socially whilst receiving the consistent support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging lessons as an SEMH Teacher across a broad and accessible curriculum
Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage pupil engagement and progress
Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of individual needs and learning styles
Support pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs and additional SEND
Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support pupils effectively
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams and external professionals
Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to maximise learning outcomes
Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom where every pupil can thriveSEMH Teacher Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Previous experience working as an SEMH Teacher, SEND Teacher or within an Alternative Provision is highly desirable
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Excellent understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice and differentiated teaching
Patient, resilient, and compassionate approach
Ability to inspire, motivate and build excellent relationships with young people
Genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to education and reach their potential
