SEND / SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant
Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Aspire People are working with a range of primary schools and specialist provisions seeking compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, sensory needs and behavioural challenges.
- Implement personalised learning and behaviour support strategies.
- Support emotional regulation using positive reinforcement and de‑escalation techniques.
- Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and external professionals.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH, either in schools, care, youth work or similar settings.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children.
