Overview

SEND Teaching Assistant – Manchester – Full-Time – Start September 2026 – 100 - 120 per day

Exciting Opportunity: SEND Teaching Assistant in Manchester! Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEND)? Do you want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people every day?

Empowering Learning are working in partnership with a number of specialist SEND schools across Manchester and are looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and resilient SEND Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches or graduates looking to build a rewarding career within education.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD, complex learning difficulties and communication needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable adults.
  • Previous experience within SEND, care, youth work, coaching or support work (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
