EAL Teaching Assistant

Overview

Secondary Teaching Assistant – Prospero Teaching are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with English as an additional language, to start in September, at a secondary school in North Manchester. The successful candidate will have experience teaching English as a foreign language and a TEFL qualification. Speaking Arabic is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will be required to register and have passed safeguarding/vetting checks with Prospero Teaching in order to fill this vacancy. This role involves safeguarding responsibilities for working with children and vulnerable young people.

• Work closely with teachers to support learning in the classroom.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who speak Arabic as a first language.
• Assist in preparing resources and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Encourage and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

• Fluent in Arabic is desirable but not essential.
• Hold a TEFL qualification.
• Previous experience working in a UK school is desirable.
• Experience working with young people in either a voluntary or professional capacity desirable.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year or willingness to complete Prospero's online safeguarding training.

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
• Provide two professional child-related references.
