Education First is looking for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a specialist education team, supporting secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties and associated learning needs.

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
• Teach the English curriculum, adapting resources and teaching approaches to maximise engagement and achievement.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, using assessment to inform planning and next steps.
• Create a structured, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews, personalised learning plans and annual review meetings.
• Support pupils to develop communication, literacy, confidence and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and external professionals to provide holistic support.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and contribute to the wider life of the school.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Degree in English or a related subject.
• Experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Experience adapting teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.

• Experience working in a specialist SEND, SEMH or alternative provision setting.
• Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, trauma-informed practice and relational approaches.
• Experience contributing to EHCPs and multi-agency working.
• Experience preparing pupils for Functional Skills and/or GCSE English qualifications.
