1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
A welcoming mainstream primary school in Longsight, Manchester is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to deliver personalised academic, social and emotional support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities- Providing dedicated 1:1 support, adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Supporting the pupil's academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
- Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation using consistent approaches.
- Promoting independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, parents and external professionals where appropriate.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Calm, patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Confidence in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Right to work in the UK and full‑time availability.
- Level2 or Level3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable).
- Team Teach, MAPA or similar de‑escalation training (desirable).
- Free access to CPD and safeguarding training.
