Manchester Young Lives does education differently. We build trusting relationships that enable young people to feel respected and safe, facilitating engaging creative personalised learning programmes that leave young people with SEND believing they can succeed. We are looking for passionate values driven professionals who will support young people in our Learning Hubs to believe in themselves and achieve their aspirations.
Due to the growth of our Learning Hubs, MYL is recruiting for a Youth Engagement Worker providing pastoral support, enrichment activities and facilitating informal learning with young people aged 16 - 25 with SEND. Working as part of our team including qualified teachers, a central part of the role is to mentor learners using a community-based approach. You will support them in working towards individual goals and developing the skills and confidence to travel independently and take the next steps in their education and/or progression to employment.
You will need the experience and ability to build trusting relationships and facilitate 1-1 and group informal education sessions to enable young people to develop personal, social and employability skills. We are keen to hear from people with good engagement and youth work skills.
Applicants can choose between a year-round contract with the requirement to support MYL’s holiday play schemes, or a term-time only contract with a pro-rata salary. You will need to be willing to travel around Wythenshawe and beyond, working with young people where they feel comfortable.
