Know your way around a motor vehicle workshop? Use that experience to help the next generation build theirs.
We’re looking for a Motor Vehicle Technician to support practical learning in our automotive workshops.
You don’t need to be a lecturer. You do need hands-on experience of vehicle maintenance, repair or diagnostics, a good understanding of workshop safety and the organisational skills to keep tools, vehicles and equipment ready for practical sessions.
You’ll work alongside our Motor Vehicle lecturers to:
- prepare workshops, vehicles, tools and equipment;
- support practical teaching before, during and after sessions;
- maintain safe, clean and organised workshop environments;
- monitor equipment, materials and stock;
- demonstrate safe working practices; and
- support and supervise learners in workshop areas.
You’ll ideally hold a relevant Level 3 automotive qualification and have practical industry experience. You’ll also be reliable, safety-focused and comfortable supporting young people as they develop their skills and confidence.
At Wigan & Leigh College, your automotive experience will help learners complete real practical work and develop the professional standards expected in industry.
You’ll receive generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, employee wellbeing support, salary sacrifice schemes and opportunities for continued technical and professional development.
This role is subject to enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks.
