Are you a recent graduate eager to gain practical experience in education, psychology, or youth support? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Graduate Learning & Behaviour Mentor to work within a specialist school in Manchester, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This setting provides tailored support for children and young people facing challenges such as anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional regulation needs, low confidence, and behavioural barriers to learning.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop valuable experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. You will support students on an individual and small-group basis, helping them overcome obstacles, engage positively with education, and achieve their potential.

Main Duties
  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Establish positive and professional relationships that promote trust and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support pupils in developing appropriate coping strategies and emotional regulation skills.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through consistent guidance and reinforcement techniques.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other support staff to meet individual student needs.
  • Promote independence, resilience, confidence, and social development.
Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, or a related subject is desirable.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either professionally or voluntarily, is advantageous but not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
