About the Opportunity

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Irlam to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This is a highly rewarding role for somebody who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You will play a key role in helping a pupil access learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 3 pupil with autism, providing tailored support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and engage in activities
  • Implementing strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals
  • Encouraging communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Supporting the development of independence and self-confidence
  • Adapting learning resources to meet the pupil's individual needs
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain adaptable and respond to a child's changing needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training)
