Position: Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering/Hardware (Teaching and Scholarship)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated teacher to join the Department of Computer Science as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering/Hardware. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the delivery and development of undergraduate and postgraduate education in computer architecture, digital systems design, and hardware engineering. You will help prepare graduates to contribute to the design and deployment of future computing systems in both industry and academia.

You

will be responsible for:
  • Leading and enhancing the teaching programmes of the Department of Computer Science at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels focused on Computer Engineering/Hardware
  • Further contribute to teaching related administration, examination, and to curriculum design
  • Supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate student projects and tutorials
  • Contributing to the management and administration of the Department’s activities and the broader objectives of the Department
About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria
  • A PhD or equivalent (including industrial) experience in Computer Engineering/Hardware.
  • Postdoctoral (or industrial equivalent) research experience at lecturer level or above in Computer Engineering/Hardware.
  • Significant experience of planning and developing teaching materials.
  • Significant experience in teaching and assessing undergraduate or postgraduate students.
  • Demonstrated sustained ability to enthusiastically teach aspects of undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in Computer Science – with a particular focus on Computer Engineering/Hardware - and to develop innovative teaching.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of microarchitectural design, hardware-software co-design, and SoC development, supported by modern development tools, such as hardware description languages, FPGA platforms, and advanced CAD tool chains.
