We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Pastoral Leader to join our fantastic team at CHS South.
This is a Grade 4, permanent full time post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week. The starting salary is £26,403 and the pro-rata is £22,710. The working hours are 8:00am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid break each day.
Main purpose of the role- Provide an identified year group of students with outstanding support and guidance, enabling them to thrive and succeed
- Address attendance, behaviour, pastoral and welfare concerns and help pupils overcome barriers to learning
- Work collaboratively with school staff, families and external agencies to support student wellbeing
- Help provide accurate attendance, punctuality, behaviour and other pastoral information to governors, leaders and staff
- Maintain a high profile around the school and promote high standards of behaviour, uniform and equipment
- Offer practical support, mentoring and guidance to students
- Liaise constructively with parents and carers to support attendance, learning and wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and data analysis
- Take a lead role in supervising pupils and maintaining a positive learning environment with high expectations
- Support whole-class cover, break and lunchtime duties, on-call arrangements, detentions and strategic behaviour interventions
- Contribute to safeguarding and the protection of all pupils

About the CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age and the ability to build positive relationships with young people and adults.
You will understand the important role played by support staff and other professionals in helping students reach their potential. You will establish and maintain a highly visible presence across the school, using proactive strategies to promote positive behaviour and implementing effective sanctions when appropriate.
You will also provide students with constructive feedback and support relating to their progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance and welfare.
Applicants should have:
- Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2
- Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
- The ability to relate well to children and adults
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
