Mains / Service Layer Trainer (Full Training Provided)

Manchester

Are you a Mains or Service Layer with experience in gas, or gas and water?

Are you looking to come off the tools into a more structured, less pressured environment where your experience still plays a key role?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global leader in technical training, delivering specialist programmes across the energy, utilities and engineering sectors. With significant investment into state-of-the-art training facilities, modern equipment and industry-leading delivery, they are setting the standard for how utilities training is delivered in the UK.

Their utilities division focuses on developing highly skilled professionals across gas and water infrastructure, combining real-world practical training with high-quality learning environments. You'll be part of a professional, well-supported team where the focus is on quality, safety and development - not site deadlines or production pressure.

In this role, you'll deliver and assess Level 1 Certificates and Level 2 Diplomas in Network Construction Operations (Gas and Water). Using your industry experience, you'll guide learners through practical and theory-based training, helping them build competence, confidence and safe working practices, while supporting them with structured feedback throughout their journey.

The ideal candidate will come from a mains or service laying background, with strong gas experience and ideally exposure to water, including multi-lay and excavation work. You don't need any previous teaching experience - full training, support and recognised teaching and assessing qualifications will be provided.

This is a brilliant opportunity to step away from the physical demands and unpredictability of site work, into a stable, long-term role where you can pass on your skills, develop professionally, and play a key role in shaping the next generation of the utilities workforce.

The Role:
  • Monday to Friday, 7:30am / 8:00am starts
  • 8-hour working day
  • Full training provided to become a qualified Trainer / Instructor
  • Delivering and assessing gas and water mains and service laying
  • Supporting learners across practical and classroom-based environments
The Person :
  • Based within commutable distance of Manchester
  • Background in mains laying or service laying (gas essential)
  • Competent in multi-lay gas and water operations with excavation experience
  • Looking to transition off the tools into a training role.

We are an equal opportunities company and welcome applications from all suitable candidates.
