Are you a Level 2 Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding permanent opportunity within a supportive specialist school?
Astro Education are currently supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester that is looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and provides a structured and nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.
With small class sizes and a supportive staff team, this is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference.
The Role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide pupils with the encouragement and assistance they need to engage positively with education.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting pupils within small SEN/SEMH classes.
* Providing 1:1 and small-group support when required.
* Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and learning.
* Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
* Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
* Encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
* Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a safe and structured environment.
* Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience.
* Working closely with teachers and the wider school team.
* Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
* Experience working with children or young people.
* Experience with in an SEN, SEMH, education, youth work or care setting is desirable.
* A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
* The resilience and confidence to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* A genuine passion for helping children and young people succeed.
Transferable experience will be considered, particularly from youth work, care, sports coaching, residential settings or other roles supporting young people.
