The Oldham Academy North is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Tutor to provide targeted academic support and intervention for students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Working with individuals and small groups, you will help students improve their attainment, confidence and engagement in English while supporting their preparation for assessments and GCSE examinations.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality tuition, plan tailored intervention programmes, monitor student progress and work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to ensure every learner receives the support they need to succeed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality one-to-one and small-group English tuition to support student progress and attainment.
  • Plan and deliver targeted intervention programmes tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Monitor, assess and record student progress, adapting support to maximise outcomes.
  • Support students preparing for internal assessments, GCSE examinations and other relevant qualifications.
  • Work closely with English teachers and pastoral staff to identify and support students requiring additional intervention

Pay range: SCP
12-17 - £25,982.89 - £28,185.21 - FTE: £29,542.00 - £32,046.00 - 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in English or a related subject, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of supporting young people and delivering targeted interventions in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of effective English teaching, learning and tutoring strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to students of varying abilities.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students, building confidence, resilience and independent learning skills
