Changing Lives Independent School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support for a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Changing Lives Independent School is a specialist SEND independent school supporting approximately 60 students aged 11-19. All students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with many presenting with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, anxiety and other additional needs. Located within a unique farm-based environment in Carrington, Trafford, we provide a nurturing, therapeutic and highly personalised approach to education where relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual student to support their academic, social, emotional and behavioural development throughout the school day. You will help the student access learning, implement strategies identified within their EHCP, promote independence and support them to achieve positive outcomes both in and beyond the classroom. Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, therapists and families, you will play a vital role in helping the student feel safe, successful and valued.

• Provide individual support to a student in line with their EHCP and personalised targets.
• Assist the student in accessing learning across a range of curriculum areas.
• Support emotional regulation, social development and positive behaviour.
• Implement strategies recommended by therapists and external professionals.
• Foster positive relationships based on trust, consistency and high expectations.
• Monitor, record and report on progress, achievements and areas of concern.
• Support attendance, engagement and participation in school life.
• Promote independence whilst ensuring appropriate levels of support.
• Contribute to reviews, meetings and reporting processes.
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to the welfare of all students.

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Is patient, caring and able to build strong positive relationships.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries and positive behaviour support.
