Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Classroom Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist primary school in the Trafford area. This welcoming and nurturing setting supports pupils aged 4-11 years with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing personalised learning experiences that help every child thrive both academically and socially.

The school caters for pupils with a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Complex Learning Needs, sensory needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. With small class sizes, specialist facilities, and a child-centred approach, the school offers a rewarding environment for educators who are passionate about making a genuine difference.

As a SEN Classroom Assistant, you will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning, develop social skills, manage emotions, and achieve their individual targets.

You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist pupils in accessing classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
• Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes and EHCP targets.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
• Help pupils develop communication, independence, and life skills.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs where required.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and families.
• Support pupils during break times, transitions, and enrichment activities.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals.
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare procedures are followed at all times.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings.
• Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience.
• Is confident building positive relationships with children who may require additional emotional or behavioural support.
• Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Can remain calm and proactive in a fast-paced school environment.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
