Role Overview

An ambitious secondary school and sixth form in Manchester is seeking an organised practical and detail-oriented Science Technician to join their science department ASAP. Working alongside a lead technician and supporting a team of specialist teachers you will ensure laboratories are fully prepared safe and equipped for daily practical lessons across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 (GCSE Science) and Key Stage 5 (A Level Biology Chemistry and Physics).

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment chemical solutions and practical materials for daily Biology Chemistry and Physics experiments.

• Maintain laboratory safety standards carry out risk assessments (CLEAPSS guidelines) and oversee safe chemical storage and waste disposal.

• Maintain clean and repair laboratory apparatus tools and digital science equipment.

• Manage department inventory monitor stock levels and place orders for science consumables and apparatus.

• Provide live practical support to teaching staff and students during laboratory lessons and science club sessions.

Key Requirements

• Qualification in Science (HNC HND BSc) or relevant practical laboratory experience.

• Prior experience working as a Science Technician ideally within a secondary school college or academic setting.

• Sound knowledge of CLEAPSS safety guidelines COSHH regulations and health and safety practices.

• Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
