This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them re-engage with education in a way that works for them.

The role will involve collecting the child from their home address and supporting them with personalised learning activities within suitable public environments, such as local libraries and community spaces. You will be responsible for creating a positive, structured and engaging learning experience, adapting your approach to meet the child's individual needs and helping them build confidence, independence and a routine around learning.

Please note:

This role requires the successful candidate to be a driver with access to their own reliable vehicle.

The Role

As an SEN Tutor, you will:

  • Collect the child from their home address and safely transport them to suitable learning environments.
  • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in public settings, such as libraries and other appropriate community spaces.
  • Plan and deliver engaging educational activities tailored to the child's individual needs and abilities.
  • Support the child's academic development, including literacy, numeracy and other curriculum-based subjects.
  • Adapt learning approaches to maintain engagement and encourage participation.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child, providing consistency and encouragement.
  • Support the development of confidence, communication, social skills and independence.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help establish structure and routine throughout the day.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on the child's engagement and development.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals involved in the child's education.
  • Ensure the child's safety and wellbeing throughout the placement, including during transport and off-site learning activities.
We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 support, tuition or personalised learning.
  • A good understanding of different learning needs and the ability to adapt teaching approaches.
  • Confidence supporting children who may struggle to engage with traditional classroom environments.
  • A patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative when planning learning activities.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle - essential.
  • Willingness to travel locally and transport the child from their home to suitable learning locations.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to education and reach their potential.
Why Register with Educato?
  • Competitive rates of pay, £102 per day.
  • A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout your placement.
  • Opportunities across SEND schools, mainstream schools with specialist provisions and alternative provisions.
  • Long-term, permanent and daily supply opportunities available.
  • Recommend a friend scheme.
  • Ongoing support throughout your career.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Tutor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or have a background in supporting children with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.
