This trainer and assessor post sits in the building services engineering delivery team at Salford City College. The work centres on supporting apprentices on domestic plumbing and gas programmes, from guidance and learning to site-based assessment and progress reviews with employers. It suits someone with a domestic plumbing and gas background, though experienced plumbers moving into education are also considered. Regular contact with young people means DBS and safeguarding checks apply.
Whatthe job involves
- Supporting apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours
- Undertaking site-based assessments
- Reviewing progress with employers and apprentices
- Supporting learners to achieve ACS
- Providing information and guidance on the apprenticeship journey
- Meeting stakeholders virtually and in person
- Identifying new apprenticeship opportunities
- Delivering short training courses
- Maintaining accurate records
- Helping the team reach and exceed ambitious targets
- Relevant industry qualifications
- Relevant industry experience
- Experience supporting apprentices on domestic plumbing and gas engineering apprenticeships
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- DBS and further safeguarding checks
- Not barred from regulated activity with children
- Assessor qualification
- Teaching, training or IQA qualification
- Knowledge of e-portfolio systems
- Domestic plumbing and gas background
- 13 weeks not in college (195 days in college) under Sixth Form College's Association style terms
- Finish at 2:30pm on Fridays
