Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

We are working with a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor who is looking to appoint a Project Engineer to support a growing portfolio of projects across the North West, based from their Manchester operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants hands‑on project exposure, strong technical development, and a clear pathway for progression within a major contractor environment.

As Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of civil engineering projects, supporting the Project Manager and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The position offers a strong balance of site-based and engineering responsibilities.

• Supporting planning, coordination, and execution of works on site
• Setting out, surveying, and managing site engineering activities
• Preparing and reviewing method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation
• Managing subcontractors and liaising with designers and suppliers
• Monitoring progress against programme and reporting on key milestones
• Ensuring quality standards, health & safety, and environmental requirements are met

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience working as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong setting out and technical skills
• A proactive, problem‑solving mindset with good communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively within a project team
