Electrical Design Engineer

We are glad to be retained by a Japanese-founded renewable energy tech company that manufactures unique energy storage systems (BESS) for stationary applications. In 2022, the spinout from The University of Tokyo moved and opened an office in Manchester, UK to support net-zero targets. The company is looking for an ambitious Electrical Design Engineer (hybrid-working in UK) to support work with large power consumers such as factories, hospitals, and data centers.

The Electrical Design Engineer will execute electrical engineering tasks and work on power generation projects connected directly to the high voltage electricity network.

• Experience in the Power industry
• Minimum 5 years of Experience with electrical engineering and design engineering
• Understanding of the British energy market
• Fluency in English
• Availability to travel 1-2 days per month in England & Ireland and once per year in Japan
• Located in the UK or Greater Manchester (preferred)
• Availability to work hybrid
• Possession of full UK Driving License
• Advanced user of AutoCAD
• Experience of G99 and good understanding of requirements.
• Cable sizing and selection
• Protection selection
• Control panel layout
• Experience with 3D design packages
• Understanding of HV and EHV networks and equipment
• Design of earthing systems and earthing arrangements
• Understanding BS EN 61439
• Experience with VSD / VFD and MMC
• Detailed understanding of BS7671 requirements
