Senior Product Compliance Engineer

Overview

Senior Engineer - Product Safety. Primary duties are heavily focused on safety during the product design process. You will undertake analysis and provide outputs to the Principal Engineers to assist in developing designs further. Relocation support packages are available across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

• Attend and report to Daily Stand-Up Meetings (DSUM).
• Design activities including, but not limited to, supporting risk reduction/analysis and identification.
• Apply a systems engineering approach to safety products, including working within a centralised modelling tool.
• Work within a small safety team environment.
• Support non-safety experienced team members to achieve desirable safety outcomes.
• Support and prepare safety assessments as required to support system design and development.
• Support the preparation of Design Safety Justification inputs.
• Provide Safety SME input to product design and gate reviews.
• Support the development and maintenance of a healthy product Safety Culture within the team and wider business.

• STEM degree (ideally with Product Safety experience within a regulated industry).
• Familiarity with UK Defence Standards and publications such as Defence Standard 00-56, Defence Standard 00-55, DSA-01, DSA-02.
• Familiarity with safety analysis techniques such as FHA, FTA, ETA, FMEA, STPA.
• An understanding of the principles and requirements of IEC 61508 and/or IEC 61511 for complex Software and Hardware Safety Instrumented Systems.
