Estimator - Highways Maintenance

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to support a major highways maintenance contract in Oxfordshire.

This role sits within a well-established commercial team delivering essential highway maintenance and improvement works for a local authority client. It is a fast-paced position
, suited to a commercially astute professional with strong highways and NEC contract experience
.

You will provide estimating and commercial support to the pre-construction and commercial team, with a specific focus on the development of Star Rates not included within the existing Schedule of Rates.

• Develop, price and prepare approximately 400 Star Rates for review and submission
• Support the commercial team in the identification and development of Star Rates
• Liaise with internal commercial and operational teams to gather technical and cost information
• Engage with and negotiate rates with subcontractors and suppliers
• Ensure all submissions comply with contractual, procedural and governance requirements
• Maintain compliance with internal commercial standards and processes

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
• Strong commercial experience within highways maintenance or civil engineering
• Previous experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Good working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
• Experience using Highways Method of Measurement (HMM) and Schedules of Rates
• Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
