** You will join our Plant Equipment team, home to experts responsible for the design, development, integration, and assurance of plant‑wide Tanks & Vessels used across the SMR.The team ensures that these critical components meet the highest technical, regulatory, and safety standards — enabling safe operation, cost‑effective manufacturing, and long‑term asset performance. Their work directly shapes the maturity of the SMR product, supports global customers, and enables Rolls‑Royce SMR to scale internationally.

Senior Engineer – Tanks & Vessels
** This role provides a unique opportunity to lead the technical development of a key class of components essential to the SMR design. As a Senior Engineer, you will shape the strategy, maturity, and integration of Tanks & Vessels across the plant, ensuring they meet world‑class standards in performance, safety, manufacturability, and lifecycle value.
Your contribution will be critical to ensuring technical excellence, supporting customer and regulatory engagement, and building a capability that will grow as the business expands.
** What You’ll Be Doing
** In this role, you will:
* Lead the technical maturity of the full Tanks & Vessels product range.
* Develop and implement programmes that align product delivery with design, cost, and schedule milestones.
* Act as an intelligent customer, working closely with suppliers on specification development, vendor selection, and product verification.
* Ensure governance and quality, overseeing outputs from the Tanks & Vessels team.
* Apply engineering judgement across design, analysis, manufacturing feasibility, safety case inputs, verification and validation.
* Represent Tanks & Vessels in cross‑functional meetings, technical reviews, and stakeholder engagements.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, regulators, and suppliers.
* Lead and support a small engineering team, helping foster collaboration, technical rigour, and a positive, inclusive culture.
* Manage programme risks, dependencies, and mitigation activities.
* Contribute to strategic growth, supporting the future expansion of the Plant Equipment team.
* Travel occasionally between sites as required.

* Experience in the design, analysis, manufacture, installation or maintenance of tanks, vessels, or pressure equipment.
* Strong understanding of product development within supply chains, including supplier engagement and specification development.
* Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME III, ASME VIII, EN13445, PED/PSSR).
* Experience working across multiple lifecycle stages (e.g., design, verification, safety case contributions).
* Ability to lead integrated programmes, manage uncertainty, and drive progress.
