We are seeking a skilled and proactive Works Planner to join our team, supporting the delivery of essential wastewater services across Manchester.

This role is central to the coordination of our Tankering works, ensuring that field teams are deployed efficiently and that all customer issues – from blockages to pollution incidents – are responded to within tight time frames.
As a Operations Scheduler, you will- Coordinate and schedule all planned tankering operations across the wastewater network, including routine sewer maintenance, capacity management, and support for planned engineering or maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain efficient tankering schedules, ensuring optimal routing and resource allocation based on job priority, geographic area, and tanker availability to reduce travel time and operational costs.
- Monitor the delivery of planned tankering works throughout the day, updating internal systems and maintaining live communication with field operatives to track progress and manage any schedule changes.
- Liaise with internal teams and customers to provide updates of planned tankering activities, ensuring access arrangements and potential service impacts are clearly communicated and managed.
- Adjust schedules in response to changing operational conditions, resource availability, or network requirements, maintaining continuity and performance against KPIs.
- Work closely with Operational Management and Compliance Teams to ensure tankering works support wider asset management and maintenance programmes effectively and safely.
- Ensure accurate job creation, documentation, and closure within internal systems, including raising follow-on activities or compliance checks where necessary to meet regulatory standards.
- Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring that all planned tankering activities are delivered with professionalism and minimal disruption
- Support and coach field teams and drivers on scheduling expectations and procedures, helping to foster a shared understanding of service priorities and best practice execution.
- Previous experience in a scheduling, planning, or coordination role, ideally in utilities or field services.
- Strong understanding of customer service principles and a passion for delivering excellent experiences.
- Familiarity with wastewater network operations or related environmental/emergency response scenarios is desirable.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Confident using scheduling and work management systems
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to problem-solve and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
