Position: Business Development Manager - World leading OEM - Fluid Systems (Permanent)
A globally established engineering manufacturer is seeking a technically strong, field-based commercial professional to drive strategic growth across the North West.

This role is designed for someone who is not just commercially capable, but genuinely comfortable in technical environments — someone who can engage engineers, interpret specifications, understand system performance, and position engineered solutions with confidence.

The Role

This is a field-based, technical sales and business development role focused on consultative, specification-led selling.

You will be expected to:

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within industrial and process markets

• Engage directly with design engineers, project engineers, maintenance managers and technical decision-makers

• Interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, system schematics and performance specifications

• Provide application-based solutions involving fluid handling systems, pressure control, instrumentation, valves, fittings, gas systems, hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies

• Support tender submissions and engineered proposals

• Manage long sales cycles associated with capital equipment and engineered packages

• Develop strategic account plans for major industrial customers

• Negotiate commercial agreements and close technically complex opportunities

• Maintain structured pipeline management and accurate forecasting

This role requires someone who understands engineering environments — not just at surface level, but with the confidence to hold technically detailed conversations around materials, pressure ratings, compliance, installation constraints, system integration and performance optimisation.

About You

You will likely have a background in technical external sales, application sales, solution sales, specification sales or engineering-led account management within industrial B2B markets.

You may have sold or worked with:

Fluid systems and pressurised assemblies
Instrumentation and control systems
Valves, regulators and fittings
Tubing and pipework systems
Hydraulic and pneumatic components
Gas handling or distribution systems
Flow control equipment
Process equipment or engineered mechanical assemblies
OEM machinery or integrated systems

You are technically astute and commercially aware. You understand how engineered products fit within broader system architecture. You can translate customer operational challenges into practical, technically compliant solutions.

You bring:

• A strong technical foundation in mechanical, fluid, process or instrumentation systems

• Experience operating within field-based industrial sales

• A track record of delivering revenue growth through consultative engagement

• Confidence presenting technical solutions to engineering stakeholders

• Experience managing complex, multi-stage sales processes

• The ability to operate autonomously across a defined region

An engineering qualification is advantageous, though hands-on technical industry experience is equally valued.
