Principal/Associate Rail Modelling and Simulation Analyst

Our Rail Operations performance and modelling team is growing. We are looking for an experienced rail modelling and simulation analyst with a background in Discrete Event Simulation (DES) using Any Logic. You will act as the UK‑based expert, championing DES and Any Logic application across projects and across WSP.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a visible presence in the UK and international rail industry, serving as key point of contact for clients regarding Any Logic.
- Lead innovation in Any Logic, expanding analysis capabilities and delivering innovative solutions.
- Develop and train junior team members, supporting the Technical Discipline Lead in competencies.
- Write high quality proposals for Any Logic work, collaborate with stakeholders to win new work.
- Manage technical delivery of Any Logic from project inception to close, ensuring quality assurance processes are applied.
- Work closely with clients to scope modelling requirements, collect inputs, and perform data analysis/preparation.
- Produce written, concise professional proposals, reports and presentations that influence client decisions.
- Lead lessons learned and knowledge sharing, promote Good Practice for Any Logic modelling.
- Engage WSP territories to share expertise, identify work‑winning opportunities and resource sharing.
It is expected that you will have an engineering, mathematics or computer science related degree and be professionally registered with experience in both rail simulation & modelling and DES. Desired skills include:
- Familiarity with engineering design / simulation software, coding, data analysis (ideal Any Logic).
- Logical reasoning and systematic problem‑solving ability.
- Strong presentation skills, ability to influence internally and externally.
- Forward‑thinking, vision for longer outreach.
- Strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented, commitment to safety, quality, programme, delivery, budget and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.
