Do you share our passion of renewable energy for a greener and sustainable future? Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of HSE Manager (Projects) covering wind farms across the UK

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: The successful candidate can be based anywhere across the UK, however much of our current workload is based across Scotland. There is also a requirement to attend meetings at our Head Office in Manchester on a regular basis.

How can you make a difference?

This position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to our project management teams and external providers with respect to HSE legislation and to work with the teams to identify compliant and sustainable solutions to any identified shortfalls.

What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing constructive suggestions on how processes can be improved and work on specific process improvement actions as part of the Nordex UK/Ireland, and Nordex corporate HSE teams.
  • Assisting the Project Management team in the investigation of incidents, near‑misses and unsafe behaviour/conditions, and the determination and implementation of suitable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Managing reports and actions via the company system and liaising with authorities as appropriate.
  • Assisting the Sales and Project Management teams with project/site‑related H&S issues.

Additional tasks:

  • Advising on pre‑qualification and contractual requirements.
  • Supporting the development of site H&S plans/statements.
  • Performing joint site inspections with the site managers.
  • Performing HSE audits.
  • Advising on remedial actions and track completion.
  • Advising on requirements for H&S documentation.
  • Further responsibilities include:

    • Assessing and auditing contractors to ensure suitability for local use.
    • Become a "critical friend" to Project managers, Site Managers.
    • Building a strong working relationship with client HSE staff.
    • Ensuring projects are delivered to high health, safety and environmental standards by monitoring works, providing support and building relationships needed to influence the delivery of the project.
    • Drive to close out actions raised via the company's HSE consultation process.
    • Championing communication on HSE matters to employees.
    • Pursuing external demonstration of QHSE excellence (awards, presentations).
    What are we looking for?

    The successful candidate will hold NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 7 IOSH Diploma or a degree in a related HSE Field alongside significant HSE related experience in a high hazard environment.

    You will have experience in dealing with customers to meet their expectations while ensuring that Health & Safety is a number 1 priority. You are also required to have an excellent knowledge of the legal HSE context for the UK and Ireland and take a balanced approach to risk management.

    You will have the ability to learn quickly about all aspects of wind farm HSE, including aspects of civil engineering, electrical engineering, turbine erection, and the Nordex way of working.

    Other essential skills and behaviour required for this role includes:

    • Excellent IT skills, especially in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Internal audit experience in line with relevant ISO standards and internal management system.
    • An ability to objectively analyse situations and develop practical solutions.
    • Self‑reliance. HSE Managers will often be required to give specialist support to PM colleagues.
    • Good interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Be able to manage your own time autonomously to support the team fully.
    • Full Driving license.

    You will be required to undertake a full medical including passing Chester Step test for this role as there will be a requirement to climb.
