Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client Whessoe Engineering, for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering delivery team in Darlington.

The successful candidate will play a central role in the mechanical design and analysis of storage tanks used across energy and process industries, supporting the delivery of engineering work within a multi‑disciplinary project environment.

• Mechanical design of storage tanks
• Production and verification of engineering calculations and deliverables
• Supervision of engineers and designers within project teams
• Technical support for project bids and tender submissions
• Ensuring compliance with recognised industry design codes, including API and Eurocodes

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with in the oil, gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors
• Experience designing ambient or low‑temperature storage tanks
• Knowledge of tank design codes

• Chartered Engineer status
• Experience with analysis software such as ANSYS, STAAD, or CAESAR II
• Knowledge of pressure vessel design codes
• Experience using AutoCAD, Smart Plant 3D, PDMS, or Inventor
