Job Description
As an HVAC Engineer you will join the Derby/Warrington/Manchester team to support activities within the Nuclear Sector. You will support the technical delivery of HVAC system design solutions that provide tempered and conditioned air to Reactor Island facilities, alongside systems that safely extract and treat contaminated air prior to atmospheric discharge. You will contribute across concept and detailed design phases to ensure ventilation and cooling solutions meet nuclear safety, performance, and legislative requirements.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Location: Derby/ Warrington/ Manchester
- On Site: 2 days in one of the sites
- Clearance: BPSS
- Experience Level: 3‑10 YOE
- Support delivery of HVAC system design solutions for nuclear facilities.
- Produce and check technical deliverables for nuclear ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- Develop systems providing particulate abatement prior to discharge to atmosphere.
- Design air conditioning and cooling systems for temperature‑controlled environments.
- Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to ensure system integration and performance.
- Produce HVAC design deliverables through Concept and Detailed Design phases.
- Generate technical reports, calculations, and drawings supporting system design.
- Act as an HVAC subject‑matter expert during supplier and stakeholder engagement.
- Present design maturity and technical solutions at design reviews.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles applied to HVAC systems.
- Experience developing HVAC designs from concept through detailed definition.
- Ability to perform trade‑off studies to achieve optimal design solutions.
- Experience writing and checking HVAC technical documentation.
- Strong collaboration skills across multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to plan work, manage time, and escalated technical risks appropriately.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience in nuclear or other safety‑critical industries.
- Familiarity with verification and validation techniques.
- Experience working within regulated engineering environments.
