Our Rail Operations Performance and Modelling team continues to expand, and we are looking for a Principal/Associate level Rail Modelling and Simulation Analyst with deep expertise in Discrete Event Simulation (DES). We are growing our rail focused simulation capability, and this role will be central to strengthening our position as industry leaders in rail based DES through our use of Any Logic.

As our UK Any Logic Expert, you will champion the use of simulation across the rail sector, driving uptake, shaping best practice, and demonstrating the value of advanced, visually rich modelling to both internal teams and external clients. You will work closely with our Rail Operational Planning Technical Discipline Lead to evolve, innovate, and expand our Any Logic offering, ensuring we continue to deliver high quality, insight driven solutions across the rail industry.

In project delivery, you will act as technical lead for all Any Logic rail simulation and visualisation work, overseeing contributions from both UK and India based teams. You will guide the development of high impact visual outputs, helping clients clearly understand complex rail operational scenarios and performance outcomes. You will also play a key role in developing our people, supporting, mentoring, and accelerating the growth of junior modellers as they build capability in Any Logic, and rail specific simulation approaches.

As a senior representative of our modelling team, you will engage confidently with clients to articulate the benefits of simulation and highlight the power of visualisation as both an analytical and communication tool.

Beyond project work, you will contribute to WSP’s wider digital community of practice helping to shape our digital modelling strategy, contributing to thought leadership, and supporting the growth of our digital advisory services.

• Act as a visible presence in the UK (and International) rail industry, and key point of contact with our clients, in promotion of the use of Any Logic as a software modelling package, and communication of its capabilities, and ability to add value in influencing industry outcomes.

• Lead innovation in our use of Any Logic and strengthen the range of analysis we can perform in the software, to develop advanced solutions to complex rail problems.

• Development of Any Logic and analytical skills in junior team members and supporting the Railway Operations Planning Technical Discipline Lead in managing and developing the Competencies of the Any Logic team.

• Developing high quality proposals for Any Logic work to meet client requirements and proactively contributing to work-winning for WSP, working collaboratively with other internal WSP stakeholders to maximise these opportunities.

• Acting as a ‘Guiding Mind’ and managing the technical delivery of Any Logic work from project inception to close out within time and budget constraints, and overseeing that WSP Quality Assurance process have been applied to this work before it is finalised

• Working closely with clients to scope out project modelling requirements, obtaining required inputs, and undertaking data analysis/preparation.

• Assisting to produce powerful written, concise and professional quality proposal, reports and presentations to our clients to positively influence their outcomes and decision-making.

• Leading and enacting lessons learned and knowledge with the team, engaging in development opportunities across projects, team meetings and through industry engagements, and defining and promoting Good Practice for Any Logic modelling.

• Engage with counterparts in other WSP territories to share technical expertise, identify work-winning opportunities, and identify resource sharing opportunities.
