Principal Mechanical Engineer – ManchesterWe have a brand‑new opportunity to join our Mechanical team based in Manchester. The role involves supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes, working within a multidisciplinary team to provide high‑quality, profitable service to clients.
Responsibilities- Engage successfully with clients and other professionals to foster good relationships and create future opportunities.
- Promote the full range of services offered by Hoare Lea and contribute to bid preparation.
- Define and agree brief with client, take ownership and consistently deliver profitable schemes.
- Lead larger‑scale schemes and coordinate all disciplines, acting as the main client point of contact throughout a project.
- Support the development and leadership of a high‑performing local team and contribute to staff development.
- Manage and prioritise the workload of the project team, delegate tasks and monitor work quality.
- Monitor project expenditure and report cost and resource requirements to management.
- Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy, manage and mitigate risks to the business.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or a closely related role, with a track record delivering complex projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all mechanical services, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
- Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment with excellent communication skills and a team‑based approach.
- Proficiency with relevant software/tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- A self‑aware, open‑mind professional with a spirit of generosity.
- Familiarity with relevant British Standards.
- Consultancy experience, and appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling.
